On recent Friday I meet a friend for lunch in Westwood at Nathan’s Kosherland. The lunch was great! However, as we were leaving, they brought out on a large baking tray fresh hot cinnamon raisin rolls, the aroma nearly knock both of us over. We were both were full from lunch but that did not stop us from the purchase a box of those delicious rolls for Shabbos. Unfortunately, I put in the front seat of my car right next to me and on the ride home, you guessed it, I ate several. Fortunately I saved a few for my family for Shabbos.
The FG restaurant on Wilshire Blvd in West LA has closed, however all others are still serving daily except for Shabbos. And they have GREAT food!!
We are crushed & disappointed that, Sweet Crush ( ICE BAR ) in LA; is NO LONGER KOSHER !!!
For those who say, “no kosher restaurants in Brentwood area”, other than Coffee Bean, here’s a new healthy choice: a ” Ice Bar ”
“Sweet Crush” 11753 San Vicente Blvd. (310) 820-0607. Lower in calories, 10 vegan & parve options. My sources say is “it’s great!” however I will have a review shortly, stay tuned………
Pre-Pesach Outing for the whole family
3370 Sunset Valley Road Moorpark , CA 93021 (805) 529-3690
A great outing for all ages is the Underwood Family Farms located in Moorpark ( Ventura area) about 45 minutes drive from LA city or 30 minutes from the Valley. You can pick your own Karpas ( vegetables, lettuce , parsley, celery etc.) for Seder night. It makes the Seder even more fun and interesting.
We did it last year with the grand kids, daughters & sons in-laws. The family from NY have never seen anything like it before and were over the top with excitement.
They have rides, animal shows, petting zoo & more. Well organized and lot’s of employees to assist. Bring a picnic basket lots as there are lots of places to sit and eat. They even have hand washing stations!
Cost $6.00 admission & children under 2 are free, plus whatever you pick ( not expensive).
So much fun!!!
GOOD NEWS FOR JEWS!
Tower Saint John’s Imaging is a full service imaging center in Santa Monica which just celebrated its 10th anniversary this past November. Its origins are from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, with the Tower Imaging Medical Group (TIMG) the result of a split of the former Cedars group many years ago. They provide MRI, both closed and open, CT, Ultrasound, screening Mammography, X-Ray, PET/CT, and fluoroscopy. The group has a long history of serving the Jewish community, and has many Jewish radiologists as shareholders and staff members. Bruce Yawitz, MD, the new medical director of the facility, saw an unmet need in the Orthodox community through discussions with his Orthodox Jewish friends and family. While Saturday full service hours were a success for working secular Jews and Gentiles, the Frum and Modern Orthodox community had few options. By opening the facility on Sundays for all services (except for fluoroscopy procedures and interventional procedures requiring injections into the joints or spine), those observing Shabbat could now have necessary tests performed on Sunday, without taking time off from work or incorporating medical procedures into a busy day of childrearing. Furthermore, by its affiliation with two hospitals which require around the clock physician staffing, examinations requiring urgent readings could be taken care of on weekends and evenings. We welcome the opportunity to provide service to this community, and welcome phone calls and suggestions to better meet the needs of the observant. Please feel free to call during regular business hours and ask to speak to Randy Hernandez, our executive manager, or Bruce Yawitz, MD, our new Medical Director. Either can be reached at (310) 264-9000.
